So Shrewdie was put in for his first trial today, it turned out to be a two dog trial although I thought it was going to be a solo. Still, made no difference as he basically got a solo anyway.
It's a decent enough start from the pup, 16.59 first look.
Considering Chris says he's trying to put a little bit of weight on him and he is a little bit immature at the moment the time was pleasing. Hopefully he can get on track sooner rather than later for his next trial but with Christmas being only next week it could put yet another hold on things.
Greyhounds racing is a wonderful sport to be involved in but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have any patience!!

A good start for the pups...
Last night the a pup from the litter of Shrewdies (Ninja Jamie x Cabra Fly) made debut. This was the first of any of the pups to go out and run under the lights competitively and he certainly did not disappoint!
It's a tough ask for any dog to go out and win on any night, but despite 'Strategic Review' having to wait in his kennels until the second from last race to show Monmore what he was made of, he pinged out and made all in a fastest of the night 28.44 (this was A3, he went faster than the Puppy Open winner who also lead the whole way).
A brilliant start for the litter and hopefully the rest of the dogs can follow his lead.
This morning was the xmas owners morning at Chris Allsopps kennels and I attended with my girlfriend Aisling. It has been some 4/5 months since any of us have seen Shrewdie due to schooling and a minor injury setback, but boy he looked ALOT better than I had previously seen him!
His wooly shedding coat had all gone and no longer was he a scruff, he had a lovely blue tinted coat and looked a picture. I was warned he was a bit of a nutter before Chris gave him to us to walk and he wasn't wrong! Pulling my arm off throughout the walk and jumping up and down as he saw fit!
He is due to trial on Tuesday (18/12). His first time at the track, in a solo sprint trial at Monmore. Chris is still trying to put a bit of weight on the dog at the moment and he seems a little immature so it could be a little while before we see the best of what Shrewdie has to offer.
Chris put on a great spread with 'batches' (known to anyone outside of Coventry as, baps, rolls or buttys!), and the event finished with a football card going round to win a lovely looking pup. I took up two teams at £25 a pop, Chelsea and West Ham. I don't know if the card has sold yet or who has won, but I won't hold my breath!
A few pictures of Shrewdie are below, I will update with how his sprint goes on Tuesday.
